Jerry Lawler Stripped of the AWA Title

Citing a lack of mandatory championship defenses, Jerry “The King” Lawler is officially stripped of his American Wrestling Association World Heavyweight title after eight months as champion.  This decision by AWA owner Verne Gagne effectively ends the working relationship between his promotion and that of Lawler & Jerry Jarrett.
