Two weeks after Evan “Strangler” Lewis defeated Matsuda Sorakichi with his patented stranglehold, the two met in Chicago for a rematch. After the prior match left him spitting out blood, Matsuda warned Lewis not to choke him again, promising “If you choke me I will shoot you.” Lewis allegedly responded “I will not choke you this time, but I will screw your leg off.” And he did. The New York Times reported that Lewis in fact broke Sorakichi’s leg in less than two minutes in front of a crowd of 2,300 people.
