Chief Don Eagle, former holder of the Boston version of the AWA World Heavyweight Championship was found dead as a result of a self-inflicted gun wound. His body was found in the kitchen of his home on the Kahnawake Indian Reserve in Kahnawake, Quebec, Canada. He was reportedly despondent over several construction setbacks that he was involved in. Don Eagle, a Mohawk Native American whose real name was Carl Donald Bell, was 40 years old and had retired from wrestling only three years earlier.
